About

It all begins with an idea. In this case, an idea over bourbon one quiet summer night on a fabulous porch right here in Maple Lawn. The Butchers Club of Maple Lawn is a dream to run a fine meat market in the heart of our community to bring our neighbors together over the finest foods.

Meet the Owners

Marshall Glenn

Growing up in a military family Marshall had the pleasure of living in many different areas from Texas, Minnesota, Maryland, West Virginia and then settled back in Maryland in 1986 in the Scaggsville/Fulton area.

Marshall had the pleasure of helping on the Iager farm by cutting down trees with his father which is now what is known as Maple Lawn. While attending Atholton High School Marshall got his first job at Giant Food of Landover where he worked for almost 2 decades. Marshall spent 25 years in the Supermarket business where his love of running butcher shops began.

Over the years he saw where it became difficult for supermarkets to continue to operate butcher shops efficiently. As supermarkets moved away from the artisan shop of butchering Marshall longed for the old days where his butchers would cut in a variety of fresh quality meats.

One day Marshall received a call from his brother who had decided with his neighbor to explore opening a butcher shop. He had many questions for me about my experiences running supermarkets and after several calls he asked if I would be interested in joining his and Theo’s vision. After checking with my beautiful wife Jennifer she encouraged me to follow my passion and we are ecstatic to be part of this locally owned and operated butcher shop.

You will often find Marshall and his wife Jennifer tending to the counter at the Butchers Club. Jennifer’s background in retail is quite extensive and she is currently a Regional Director Emerging Leader for CVS in Washington DC. They have three children Daevon, Isaiah and Shawn.

Robert Glenn

A resident of Maryland since 1989, mostly in the Fulton/Scaggsville area of southern Howard County, Robert’s journey to opening a butcher shop started in 2003. While shopping for a wardrobe to begin her career as a nurse practitioner, Robert’s wife Stefanie did not want to come home empty handed for Robert, so she bought him a cookbook. He took it as a hint.

Weber’s Big Book of Grilling inspired Robert to become a “Grill Master." He bought a Weber Kettle and quickly went from grilling burgers and steaks to smoking pork butts and turkeys. Over the years he added a Weber Smokey Mountain “bullet” smoker and a Big Green Egg to his arsenal. He continued to add many cookbooks to his library. None have come close to the initial Weber cookbook, as evidenced by its well worn condition.

Robert has a diverse career background. In the 1990s he worked in retail management while obtaining his bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Maryland College Park. In 2000, he began a 10-year career as an association executive for a non-profit marine conservation advocacy association. Robert then went back to school and obtained a master's degree in nursing from the University of Maryland Baltimore. Since graduation he has worked as a critical care nurse, seven years at the University of Maryland Medical Center Shock Trauma Center and at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda since 2020.

Robert has lived in Maple Lawn since 2006 with his wife Stefanie, an active duty Captain in the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, and his three children, Karenna, Carlin and Casey.

Theo Schlossnagle

Theo Schlossngle

Theo moved to Maryland in 1983 where he attended public schools in Prince George County and Howard County before pursuing degrees at The Johns Hopkins University. Theo started his journey as a serial entrepreneur in 1997 and continued on to found eight more businesses. Still an owner of multiple business, he spends much of us him in venture capital and private equity.

Theo has a background in software and technical systems but pursues many passions, most notably his love of cooking be it grilling, smoking, roasting, broiling, baking, frying, or sous vide.

At a previous company, Theo won the annual chili cook-off three years running with a 7-animal chili; don’t ask what’s in it until you’ve tried it.

Sitting on his porch with his neighbors (including Robert) in 2021 lamenting the lack of a good butcher with superb sourcing in the area, he floated the idea of a meat market right here in Maple Lawn. The rest is history.

Theo resides in Maple Lawn with his wife Sandrine. His three children all passed through the local Fulton/Lime Kiln/Reservoir school system before pursuing their goals in higher education. Theo and Sandrine love to travel to far away places, take in the sights, the cultural, and most definitely the foods! He is absolutely ecstatic to bring fine butchered meats to the Maple Lawn community and isn’t shy about bringing them into his own kitchen!
